ARIELLE BALL, BSC, IBCLC, CLC

Clinical Specialist management of Breastmilk Feeding

Infant Feeding Specialist personalized care helping you meet your breastmilk feeding goals.

Arielle Ball (she/her) has been supporting Breastmilk Feeding families of Scotland since 2019. All though she is new to Aberdeenshire she is no stranger to the support needed for parent's-to-be and families around the world when making their infant feeding choices. Since 2013, Arielle has supported families in feeding baby your way (breastfeeding, chestfeeding, nursing, finger-feeding, bottle-feeding, inducing lactation, relactation, latching the older baby, pumping and everything in-between). As an experienced Infant Feeding Specialist, Certified Lactation Counsellor, and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), Arielle hopes to provide the care and support families seek from right here in Scotland and through virtual international support.

In Arielle's short time here in Scotland she has been a part of many exciting volunteer organisations that support breastmilk feeding.

Current Volunteer Projects:

  • Breastfeeding Essentials Workshop with the Breastfeeding Education in Pregnancy Project

  • Lactation Consultants of Great Britain where she is a Board Member, Deputy Communications Chair and help launched the Online Web Learning (OWL)

  • IBCLC Mentorship

Arielle's lactation special interest are in supporting parents who have underlying chronic morbidities that effect lactation. Such as breastmilk feeding with PCOS, IGT (Insufficient Glandular Tissue), Hypoplasia, Insulin Resistant and Thyroid Disorders to name a few.

Building bridges not barriers is Arielle's approach to working with each Health Care Professional and the families they support. Working together to assure that the parents of Scotland are receiving the lactation support they deserve by making a strong network of support for families and health care providers. Often Arielle is found typing Health Care Provider Reports late into the night, assuring that the clients she sees are getting the support of the multidisciplinary teams needed.

When Arielle is not working on Breastfeed Scotland and various volunteer roles, she is working as a Peppy Baby Practitioner. As a Peppy Practitioner, Arielle has supported hundreds of families in their perinatal parent journey throughout England.

Before moving to Scotland, Arielle was the former owner of Lactation Love, which offered evidenced-based prenatal, intranatal, and postnatal breastfeeding education and care for private clients in Sarasota County, FL, its surroundings cities, nationally and internationally. As business grew, Arielle incorporated evidenced-based, best-practice care standards into a training and mentoring programme, which she developed and delivered for her team of counsellors and counsellors-in-training quickly becoming the number one referred private practice by midwives, obstetricians, paediatricians, local hospitals, specialist physicians, dietitians, home health care providers and families.

Arielle's background in Lactation also brought her to opportunities to work with the government-funded WIC program and the non-profit Healthy Start of Sarasota County. Through this work Sarasota was able to clearly reduced health inequalities and improved the health of pregnant and breastfeeding women and their children. Sarasota became a town that was known for the protection, promotion, and support of breastfeeding. Arielle was proud to be a part of such a town and the many organizations supporting breastfeeding.

Throughout Arielle's career, she has demonstrated a strong dedication to breastfeeding advocacy, leading change with clinical practice and service, reducing risk through research and identification of feeding-related issues, and evaluating and improving lactation support options. With innovative approaches, specialist expertise, and effective communication, Arielle has improved the experiences and outcomes of breastfeeding women in her regional community. It is her desire to continue international virtual support support as well as locally focusing on families of her home in Scotland.

TESTIMONIAL

I spent 6 YEARS begging for help with my chronic low milk supply, with local medical lactation support being non existent! Loads of awesome volunteer supporters tried their best to help me but, regrettably, hearing that you need to feed more, take a nursing vacation, skin to skin (all the things that DO work where there is no supply issue) is soul destroying when you have a medical issue that is the underlying cause. But nobody available to me had the knowledge, experience and education to get to the bottom of it so I could maximise breastfeeding (and heal my broken heart) .... until Arielle arrived in Aberdeenshire! She has worked tirelessly for me, and even liaised with my GP, who has also found her amazing. More women need this help. I would urge anyone struggling with breastfeeding to contact Arielle - you will not be disappointed and will get evidence based support that will give you the very best chance to achieve your feeding goals.
